The HungerU Tour — a traveling exhibit showcasing agriculture’s role in fighting world hunger — recently visited the University of Minnesota.
HungerU is a special project of Farmers Feeding the World of the Farm Journal Foundation.
“HungerU is about creating a greater understanding for agriculture and the food system, and more open conversations about how to alleviate the growing hunger crisis,” said Margie Alsbrook, director of operations for the nonprofit Farm Journal Foundation and HungerU.
The mobile exhibit featured a bus with several TV screens and tablets with information about the world hunger crisis.
“The Hunger Challenge has five questions. It is really simple and you can learn about hunger issues. When someone takes the Hunger Challenge, we donate a meal to others,” said Tracee Schiebel, a crewmember of HungerU who visited the University of Minnesota. “If everyone felt like they were the person that can make a difference, together we won’t be having to worry about the hunger crisis. I am really passionate about this issue. I have a background in agriculture. So, we know the agriculture is one of key solutions to solve hunger among many others. I think it is good cause and that is why I involved this project.”
