Zombie lovers will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Zombie Pub Crawl on Saturday with a massive party on 1st Avenue in the Warehouse District.
Zombie Pub Crawl co-founder Chuck Terhark said organizers are expecting the event to draw as many as 25,000 attendees. He is hopeful that the crowd will be big enough to win a Guinness Word Record.
When the Zombie Pub Crawl began in 2005 there were only about 150 participants. Since then the crowds have mushroomed each year with more than 30,000 zombies taking part in pub crawls on the West Bank and other locations.
Minneapolis Zombie Pub Crawl coordinators are flying a Guinness World Records representative to Minneapolis to attend the event in hopes of reclaiming the record for largest gathering of zombies. The 2012 Minneapolis record of 8,000 zombies was beat in 2013 by a New Jersey gathering that included over 9,000 zombies.
The Warehouse District zombie fest will feature two outdoor stages, food trucks and other vendors on 1st Avenue between 6th and 3rd streets. Performers lined up for ZPC X include Steve Aoki, Flavor Flav, Juicy J, and Sugar Ray, among others. Terhark also mentioned that the World Brain-Eating Championship will be back for the second year. Competitive eater Kobayashi will attempt to break Joey Chestnut’s 2013 record of 54 veal “brain” tacos in eight minutes.
