The Stones, in their 53rd year together, were last in the Twin Cities in 10 years ago.

The University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium made the cut Tuesday when the Rolling Stones announced that their 15-stop North American tour venue will include a June 3 stop on campus.

Chris Werle, the senior associate athletic director for strategic communications at the U, said he couldn’t be happier that Minneapolis will be part the Stones’ “Zip Code” tour.

“It will be a great event and one that people in Minnesota will love,” Werle said. “We’re really happy to host the Rolling Stones and we are looking forward to the event. Alumni really enjoy when we bring in this type of talent. It will be great for school pride.”

The Rolling Stones, in their 53rd year as a band, last played in open-air stadiums across North America during their “A Bigger Bang Tour” in 2006.

The tour, as usual, will team up seemingly ageless singer Mick Jagger, 71 with guitarists Keith Richards, 71, and Ronnie Wood, 67, along with drummer Charlie Watts, 73.

“We are excited to be back in North America playing stadiums this summer,” Mick Jagger said in a statement. “We are looking forward to being back onstage and playing your favorite songs.”

The tour will start at Petco Park in San Diego on May 24 and will conclude on July 15 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 13. The tickets’ official face values are priced from $65 to $395. And American Express cardholders will get a five-day head-start on ordering. But tickets are already pricey on ticker seller StubHub‘s site, ranging from $344.99 to $1,586.50 as of Wednesday night.
